We only have one planet. One home. So we must do all we can to protect and care for it. That is why we at papernapkin design studio are taking measures to lighten our carbon footprint.

These measures may seem simple but they are still important. Here are some of the measures we are taking to care for our environment:

• Green Printing Techniques

  All clients' print work will be printed on post-consumer paper with soy or vegetable based ink. Far too much new paper is used for print work. Some of it not even used in the end. Printed work looks just as good on post-consumer paper as on new paper. Sometimes even better. Using soy ink helps us go one step further. Not only is the production of oil based ink hazardous to the environment, it can also poison the air and water. Also, it's made from fossil fuels which we need to divert from because of it's effect on climate change and the rising cost of petroleum.

• Using Technology

  All proofs and correspondence will be through email or other electronic means. This cuts down on paper and ink usage, prevents excess waste, and saves gas when it comes to transporation of printed materials and mail.

• Meetings

  Meetings are a necessary part of any project (you know it kind of falls in line with the whole "open communication" thing). However, not all meetings should be face-to-face. We strive to have as much communication by phone or email as possible. This cuts down on carbon emissions, paper, and well...time.

• Donations

  It's no secret now that we give a portion of our proceeds to non-profit groups. Among these groups are several environmental groups. We strive for these groups to be local organizations that deal with local issues. However we will also donate to national organizations who have an impact locally as well as nationally.

• Plans For The Future

  We are not stopping here. There are more plans in the future including solar panels for electricity and to heat water. We will continue to give our best effort to make this world a better place through our actions and our design.
